During my time at Metrotech Advertising I worked with the Marketing Department at Data Robotics, Inc. to enhance a few key campaigns for the Drobo. Drobo was an automated and scalable storage array system developed for business owners, creative professionals, graphic designers, photographers, video editors, and educators.

Along with product photography, I provided graphic design and print management for several projects including product data sheets, Ad Campaigns to IT professionals as well as end-users, and a unique multi-page booklet for XChange IT Convention/Tradeshow attendees.

Branding Guide

A company’s brand, especially for a consumer product, plays an important role in any marketing strategy. The optics of how a company is perceived can have direct influence on a consumers decision to purchase their products. For Data Robotics, the Drobo product line had a very distinct style which was intended to represent reliability, stability and ease of use.

I designed the style and layout of the 6 page booklet while the information contained in the Guide was developed by the marketing team at Data Robotics.

The image shows three items: the top part is an open booklet or magazine page titled 'Secret #2 Self-Healing Capabilities,' with some text and diagrams visible. The bottom left part depicts another page or booklet with a vintage map background, containing text and images about a secret identification option and USB and iSCSI icons. The bottom right part features a closed, dark brown leather-bound notebook or journal with a leather strap closure, lying on a plain light-colored surface.

Tradeshow Booklet

The Simplified Secrets Booklet took inspiration from the Movie “National Treasure” which was out in theaters during XChange IT Convention. The marketing team at Data Robotics gave me artistic license to create a booklet/handout that would accompany a drawing entry to win a new Drobo at the show. The drawing entry required the participants to answer several questions about the “Drobo Treasure” that would result in a better understanding of the product as well as a chance to win. The leather-bound notebook was photographed and used as front and back cover of the booklet to further support the “National Treasure” theme for the promotion.
